Study of PATHE Highway in the section “KLIDI – POLIKASTRO – EVZONI” subsection B: End of AG. ATHANASSIOS I/C – End of ASPROUS I/C (Ch. 501+540 – Ch. 521+000)

The geological study focused on the detailed assessment of the geological and engineering geological conditions along the proposed alignment, with the aim of providing the necessary information to support the design and sizing of the earthworks and other engineering structures.

The study included the assessment of lithology, tectonic setting and geological structure, hydrogeological conditions, as well as the quality and engineering behaviour of the geological formations. Potentially problematic sections along the alignment were identified and assessed, and the anticipated geological and engineering geological issues were evaluated in relation to the proposed engineering works.

The scope of the study included geological mapping at a scale of 1:1,000 along approximately 20 km of the alignment, together with the preparation of a geological longitudinal profile and geological cross-sections. In addition, an inventory of SΕΝ sites was carried out, along with groundwater level measurements, engineering geological assessment of investigation boreholes, and assessment of engineering geological problems identified along the alignment.
