Performing Geotechnical Surveys, Laboratory and on-site tests and evaluating them on the Corinth-Patras Road Axis in the context of auctioning this axis with the concession system

The study concerned the geological and geotechnical assessment of three locations identified as geologically problematic along the Corinth–Patras Motorway: Mavra Litharia (CH. 55+800–57+700), Platanos (CH. 66+900–69+700), and the section from the exit of the Panagopoula Tunnel to Kato Rodini (CH. (10)5+500–(10)8+000).

The study aimed to provide the necessary geological, engineering geological, geotechnical and hydrogeological information to support the assessment of the proposed alignments and the selection of the most appropriate solution, as well as the design and sizing of the required protection and stabilisation measures.

The scope of the study included geological mapping at a scale of 1:1,000, the preparation of geological longitudinal profiles and cross-sections, groundwater level measurements, engineering geological assessment of investigation boreholes, and the preparation of subsurface contour maps. The engineering geological problems and the feasibility of the proposed alignments were also assessed.
